New York City is the largest city in the United States, and its iconic destinations are well-known throughout the entire world. Each is an undeniable piece of the culture, and most are must-see attractions if you decide to tour the Big Apple.

Here are some, but certainly not all, of the destinations that you should make time to visit on your trip:

The Empire State Building
The Empire State Building is one of the first landmarks people think of when they envision New York City. As such, you will find it in the background of many films and TV series to set the mood to more of a “New York state of mind.” For over 40 years, the site was even the tallest building in the world.

The famous building also has an observation deck on its 86th floor where you can take in a breathtaking panoramic view of the city in all its glory. You can enjoy the site late, as well, since it closes at 2 in the morning each day.

The Statue of Liberty
The statue, a gift from France, has been a symbol of freedom and also one of welcoming and opportunity for immigrants for centuries. That is why the beautiful lady is used frequently to represent America holistically.

To see it, you can take a ferry to Liberty Island and take a guided tour throughout the statue. Don’t forget to take in the majestic skyline from the view of the crown atop Lady Liberty’s head.

Radio City City Music Hall
The iconic Radio City Music Hall is a wonderful place to catch an enjoyable play or musical. Many shows feature the legendary dance stylings of the hall’s famous in-house performers, the Rockettes.

Central Park
The lovely green space that is encapsulated by urban terrain is a haven for those that enjoy nature as well as some peace and quiet away from all the hustle and bustle.

You can rent a bicycle and tour the park, or spend a day at its eponymously-named zoo. You can paddle a rented boat across the lake, or peruse the statues of famous writers along the park’s Literary Walk.

Times Square
Times Square, named for journalistic giant The New York Times, is a well-known attraction throughout the world. It is probably best known for its New Year’s Eve celebration and the dropping of the crystal-covered ball at the stroke of midnight.

However, the location is also famous for its premier retail stores and flagship restaurants. It really can be an all-day tourist destination. Plus, you should really take the time to revel in the gigantic, brightly lit signs that you could only find in this colorful city neighborhood.

These are some of the most iconic attractions in New York City, and they each warrant a visit when you tour the metropolis. Take the time to enjoy these destinations if you plan to visit the area.
