While it’s true that everyone’s idea of the best place to travel will be different, it’s fair to say that most of us are looking for those locations with good food, lots of choices for fun things to do, and places that have things going on that haven’t been fully discovered by other tourists, yet so you can get a good deal and not spend your entire trip waiting in lines.

Luckily, there are plenty of places across the country that fit this bill. Let’s take a closer look at the places to visit in the USA in 2020 for a fun adventure in an unexpected locale.

Detroit, Michigan
Detroit still holds a reputation as a city affected by the car industry, but this city has been rebuilding over the past decade and is now an up and coming hot spot for travelers. If you’re looking for one of a kind, hip restaurants, and bars, Detroit has it. The Henry Ford Museum gives you a better look at the history here. The Detroit Institute of Arts has the work of Diego Rivera. And, of course, there is Lake Michigan to look at.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
This city is full of American history. This is the city with the Liberty Bell. You can visit the Benjamin Franklin Museum, the Eastern State Penitentiary, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art (where you can run up the stairs like Sylvester Stallone in Rocky). But these are all reasons to visit Philadelphia anytime.

In 2020, this historic city is a must-visit for the foodies. If you love to find hip new restaurants and meals, you won’t get anywhere else; this is the place to be. And the cheesesteaks never hurt.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin
This city is likely not on your must-visit list, but right now, it should be. This small city is an up and coming travel hotspot, especially for people who appreciate German-American culture. There are German events, beer, and food to be found in this small city north of Chicago. The Harley Davidson Museum is a unique experience this city has to offer. Additionally, the Milwaukee Art Museum is one of the largest art museums in the country.
